Feel-Good Bubbly: Eco Champagne

Shubhra

Nothing says New Year’s Eve like a bottle of bubbly. Grab yours and ring in the New Year by toasting with a bubbly that makes you feel good all over. Pommery POP Earth Champagne is eco-friendly champagne that is good for you and good for the environment.  Pommery makes this champagne with sustainably-farmed grapes, and uses limited water and energy consumption in the production process. The bottle is made of lighter glass with a label made of recycled paper. And to put a cork in it, we love the crisp and fruity flavors of this champagne.  Cheers!

Champagne has similar health benefits as red wine, such as lowering blood pressure and therefore reducing the risk of heart problems and strokes.

A Change of Climate: Cool It, The Movie

Brianne

Remember Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth? Yeah, it’s kinda like that but with a real solution. Cool It is a new movie based on the book of the same name and by Bjorn Lomborg. Bjorn, along with award-winning filmmaker Ondi Timoner, travel the world exploring the facts and science of global warming and its impact. Lomborg’s mission is simple: To bring the smartest solutions to climate change, environmental pollution, and other problems in the world like HIV/AIDS, malaria, and the lack of potable water. Watch the trailer and get inspired …

Greenista Girl Neha

Want a shoe that not only fits perfectly on you but also fits perfectly in nature? Turn to Simple Shoes. Forget of the old, beige sneakers you’re used to, now Simple has stylish kicks with an eco angle. Greenista Girl Brianne is lusting over the Mary-Jane slip-on sneaker, Carousel Grommet ($50), which is made from eco-certified suede, lead-free grommets, recycled PET Grosgrain ribbon, organic cotton lining, and recycled car tire soles. Phew! Talk about walking a mile in the green scene. There are also super cute boots like the ankle-high Pestoe Cable Knit, and the knee-high Brrlin boot. And did you know that all of Simple’s shoes come in post-consumer recycled paper boxes and use soy ink for the labels? Talk about a great fit.

Color Me Happy: Kids Get Creative

Brianne

Let your kids’ imagination flow with eco-friendly art supplies. You know little kids like to put all sorts of things in their cute little mouths, so keep them safe with Eco Art Works. Greenista Girls are eyeing the Wax Crayons Tin with crayons made from beeswax, not petroleum. They also come in blocks so they are easier for little hands to handle. While you’re shopping, pick up a natural paint set made from gum arabic, plant-based pastels, plant-based colored pencils, soy crayon rocks tinted with mineral powders, a hemp sketch pad, eco finger paints, and eco dough made using plant, fruit, and veggie extracts.

Most conventional crayons are made from paraffin wax which is made from petroleum, a known carcinogen. Go au natural instead with beeswax-based ones.
