You want to give back to the community and the environment this season but just don’t know where to start. With all the scams out there and a Salvation Army Santa on every corner, it’s hard to know where your money is going and if it’s going to the right things. This list of top five charities has been given an A+ or A by API and has been approved to meet the follow requirements: they generally spend 75% or more of their budgets on programs, spend $25 or less to raise $100 in public support, do not hold excessive assets in reserve, and receive “open-book” status for disclosure of basic financial information and documents to AIP. So this season you can open your wallet without the stress.

Haiti is one of poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere … and that was even before the earthquake.
Want to show your love for your favorite charity? Wear it on your sleeve … and your chest and your back with the trendy Help Haiti T-Shirt ($36). Forty percent of the sale proceeds will be donated to nonprofits working to rebuild Haiti. The tragic Haiti earthquake left more than 230,000 people dead and more than 1 million homeless from the devastation. Haiti’s Prime Minister estimated that more than 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings have been severely destroyed. Do your part to help buying wearing your support.

Although RPET is great in theory, some companies are taking advantage of the idea and making bottles specifically to turn them into RPET … without even being used first. What a waste. Make sure it’s certified RPET before you buy.
