Greenista Girl Shivani

The ability to adapt is an important, valuable, and necessary part of life.  But at the Low Vision Institute, we don’t accept our patients simply adapting to their vision loss, we concentrate on helping our patients actually see again.  Created at the Low Vision Institute, by Dr. Marc Gannon, The RenewView™ Program is a powerful 3-step low vision system. For over 30 years, we’ve helped thousands of our patients return to a life of visual independence. Each individual patient’s goals are mutually established prior to starting the RenewView™ Program.  If you or someone close to you is struggling with macular degeneration or vision loss, consider RenewView™.  There is hope in sight!  Read about the success of some of our patients here.

Importance of the Retina

Greenista Girl Shivani

Understanding how all of the parts of the eye work together to create your sense of vision can go a long way to helping you understand why taking care of those eyes is so important.  So what is so special about the retina that it has a medical practice dedicated to it?  Actually, there is a lot that is special about the retina!  The retina is a layer of tissue at the back of the eye that collects light relayed through the lens.  At the retina’s center is an especially critical area called the macula, which enables you to see anything directly in front of you, like words on a page, a person’s face, the road ahead or the image on a screen.  The ability to see what is in front of you is indeed special!  That is why the Specialty Retina Center is dedicated not only to maintaining the health of your retina, but to preventing and treating any of your visual issues.

Details About the Party:

For this baby shower, we selected the theme, Pink & Pram baby shower.  The printables for the cupcakes, and for the candle favors were from Etsy.  The candles were from Bed Bath & Beyond and were $2 on sale at the time, I love the painted glass look on candles nowadays.

Simple tricks for this type of party:

- Pick a location with GREAT lighting.  This is Lemongrass Restaurant in Boca Raton, selected for the lighting in that private room.

- Look at what candles are on clearance at Bed Bath & Beyond, or any similar store.  Customize using a printable from easy - and printing it on full sheet sticker paper (from office supply store), or use ribbon matching party theme.

- Wrap ribbon around vases to create more custom, unique look for centerpieces

- Buy scrapbook paper to put under centerpieces, pulling in theme of party, and later using in a scrapbook of the actual party

- Buy small gift bags, line them up diagonally as a cool backdrop to a party, later add them to your collection of gift bags that you use personally

- Balloons add height to any party, and are a great toy for the kids at home for a week or so afterwards

- Picture frames on food tables customize the party to your Mom-To-Be while giving her a nice keepsake afterwards

- Best cupcakes ever: Cupcake Couture in Delray Beach, FL and they rent these GORGEOUS cupcake stands that I have been looking for and trying to buy for years now - (if you can find them for me, leave a note in the comments here.)

- Baby Shower sign, confetti, small baskets, paints to paint on onesies or bibs as a game - the way I make my parties GREEN is I save all these items, and re-use them party to party, I have so many relatives and friends, and it’s fun to mix and match these elements, just keep them packed in boxes by color and you’re ready to go!

Ice Cream Shoppe Party

Greenista Girl Shivani

birthday party, ice cream shoppe birthday party

This is my daughter Anya’s 1st Birthday Party that I held in Delray Beach, FL at a beautiful restaurant called Tryst.

Details of the Party:

The Inspiration for the Party is Ice Cream Shoppe, from HostessWithTheMostess.com.  I purchased the Printable Set of designed papers from Anna and Blue Paperie, from their Etsy Shop.  I scoured Etsy for over a month, collecting ideas and thoughts, before I finally picked this theme.  I originally planned to do a Mad Hatter Tea Party, but we’ll save that for another bday.

The frames are from IKEA, the glittery boxes are Michael’s small white boxes with The Paper Source glitter wrapping paper on top.  All ribbons came from Michael’s.  I designed the flowers with my florist Zergio at La Bella Rosa Florist.  They turned out gorgeous.  The sparkly stems in there came from Michael’s, the pink buckets are from IKEA.

The cupcake stands and cupcakes are from Cupcake Couture in Delray Beach, FL.  These cupcakes are amazing and always so gorgeous.  The glass jars are from Michael’s, Home Goods has some as well.  The Gumballs are from Gumballs.com and BulkCandyStore.com.  Gumballs are very expensive, so I have a collection now from all the parties.  The glass jars are very fragile and break very easily, so handle them carefully.

The ice cream cone jars were from Pier 1 imports, as were the containers for toppings.  The clean white ice cream cups were from Etsy.  If you have any questions about anything I crafted for the party, just email me and I’ll let you know.  -Shivani
