This is my daughter Anya’s 1st Birthday Party that I held in Delray Beach, FL at a beautiful restaurant called Tryst.

Details of the Party:

The Inspiration for the Party is Ice Cream Shoppe, from HostessWithTheMostess.com. I purchased the Printable Set of designed papers from Anna and Blue Paperie, from their Etsy Shop. I scoured Etsy for over a month, collecting ideas and thoughts, before I finally picked this theme. I originally planned to do a Mad Hatter Tea Party, but we’ll save that for another bday.

The frames are from IKEA, the glittery boxes are Michael’s small white boxes with The Paper Source glitter wrapping paper on top. All ribbons came from Michael’s. I designed the flowers with my florist Zergio at La Bella Rosa Florist. They turned out gorgeous. The sparkly stems in there came from Michael’s, the pink buckets are from IKEA.

The cupcake stands and cupcakes are from Cupcake Couture in Delray Beach, FL. These cupcakes are amazing and always so gorgeous. The glass jars are from Michael’s, Home Goods has some as well. The Gumballs are from Gumballs.com and BulkCandyStore.com. Gumballs are very expensive, so I have a collection now from all the parties. The glass jars are very fragile and break very easily, so handle them carefully.

The ice cream cone jars were from Pier 1 imports, as were the containers for toppings. The clean white ice cream cups were from Etsy. If you have any questions about anything I crafted for the party, just email me and I’ll let you know. -Shivani

Greenista’s Party ideas

Hi! Welcome to Greenista’s Party Ideas!

Greenista.com was founded by Shivani and Neha Gupta to share green living tidbits, ideas, products, and thoughts.

As we have changed, so has the site. Shivani has a baby now, so the Mama section is a major focus of hers. Neha has gotten even further into cooking and loves her foodie finds that she seeks out at food shows and farmers markets.

In the last few years, Shivani and Neha have also hosted some fabulous parties and have become known for their crafty, creative, colorful parties. Greenista.com’s Party section is a place to share ideas, photos, and inspiration for every hostess out there.

Whether it’s a baby shower, child’s birthday party, wedding, or girl’s night out, why not get inspired and add some beautiful details? Whether it’s your first time throwing a party or you’re a seasoned pro.

Now some of you might ask, how is throwing parties green? Especially since you have to buy so much stuff, use so many tools and products, etc. Greenista is here to show you how to throw fabulous eco-chic parties! We are also a green event planning company, so contact us anytime for a consultation.

Thanks!

Sama Baby’s clothing is made from the highest quality certified organic cotton, produced under fair trade conditions and using earth-friendly dyes, and gorgeous prints.

CEO Raegan Moya-Jones, a mother herself, was hard-pressed to find the swaddles she remembered growing up in Australia when she moved to the United States and started her own family. Flash-forward: aiden + anais® was born to aid mothers everywhere in swaddling their babies in generously sized, chicly designed, gentle muslin sheets.

aiden + anais® bamboo muslin swaddling blankets go a step farther, incorporating silky bamboo fiber with natural muslin and fashion forward prints. These blankets get softer as you wash them, and they measure 47”x47”, so they’re great for babies of all sizes. Although traditionally used for swaddling, aiden + anais® also includes burp cloths, nursing and stroller covers, portable crib sheets, stroller and car seat liners, tummy time blankets, and change table covers as suggested uses for their wraps.

We like the “Mela Bamboo Swaddles”, $40.00 for a 3-pack below.

The Electree, a solar bonsai equipped with 27 solar panels, was conceived by French Metz-based designer Vivien Muller to recharge electronic devices.

In an interview with ulule, Muller said, “Nature has selected over millions of years the most efficient structures to capture solar energy. The tree’s shape is thus the best mean to take advantage of the solar energy.”

Muller’s design, inspired by trees’ photosynthesis, is eco-chic, and integrates sustainable living with functionality and a high-end aesthetic. Truly taking efficiency into account, the Electree uses high-quality amorphous silicon in their solar panels, which optimizes solar cell efficiency.

For those creative eco-landscapers, each of the Electree’s solar panel modules can also rotate freely, giving you ultimate control over your solar bonsai’s shape. For those on the go, the Electree can be charged in less than 36 hours of sunshine, near a window indoors to maximize solar energy intake throughout the course of the day, and be used to charge mobile electronic devices via USB connection.

The Electree’s presale will fund the product’s long-term launch, with the hopes of selling 400 Electrees by October 15th (buyers will receive their trees before Christmas).

Specs:

Solar Panels: 27 Amorphous Silicon Solar Panels; 96 mm x 96 mm ea.

Height: 40 cm

Battery Capacity: 13,500 mAh (an iPhone battery capacity is 1,500 mAh)

Outputs: USB connection + AC plug

Giving your heating/cooling system a break will also take a load off of your wallet, since most households spend 50-70% of their energy budgets tinkering with the thermostat. For every degree you turn up the temperature on your air conditioner, you’ll save 1-3% of your energy budget. Keeping things cool during winter by lowering the thermostat will not only help to save the environment, but it’ll put green back into your pockets too.

More than 100 million trees and 28 billion gallons of water are wasted to produce junk mail. Producing and shipping junk mail produces more greenhouse gas emissions than 9 million cars. The average adult receives 41 pounds of junk mail each year, 44% of which goes to the landfill unopened, and wastes 70 hours each year dealing with junk mail.

Kick junk mail to the curb using these eco-friendly tips:

- Switch to paperless billing

- Opt out of direct mail marketing by contacting the Direct Marketing Association (DMA)

- Remove yourself from lists that send credit card offers, mortgage refinancing offers, and other preapproved offers by calling 1-888-5OPT-OUT or visit www.optoutprescreen.com

- Finally, cancel all unread catalogs and mailings

Remember that these specialty mailings often use high-gloss color-printed paper or cardstock, which wastes even more resources. Start cancelling your junk mail now, and make a difference by making less of an impact.

Fashion and fur have been linked since the beginning of time. But whereas our cave sisters wore it to keep warm, fashionistas these days wear it for style. Despite the many protesters and PETA supporters, there still has not been a ban on it … until now.

Sure you’ve seen the protesters at NYC fashion week with their heart-breaking signs but it was the protesters in Seoul, South Korea that eventually got the word across. The subject of their rant, Fendi. The Italian fashion house, known for their fur craftmanship, just found out that Seoul is forcing the fashion house to leave the fur to the animals and off the catwalk.

Fendi released a statement saying the designer had difficulty understanding the decision as they had spent months preparing it. They also added they will still negotiate to keep their real fur in. City official Seo Jeong-hyup said Monday that Seoul subsequently demanded it because of negative public sentiments.

Us Greenista Girls have to say that we are happy that animals are getting a voice … even if it’s just starting in South Korea.

Would you ever where fur?

A. Never

B. Only vintage

C. Not sure
