Good things come in small packages … candy, rings, and who could forget babies. With early labor births as the number one killer of American newborns (wow!), The March of Dimes has named November as Prematurity Awareness Month. Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, and friends can ban together to draw awareness to this increasingly common, costly, and serious public health problem. In some cases, premature babies can even be prevented by mom staying happy, healthy, and active (see how at our other Greenista Mama tips). If you know a preemie or know a loved one who has given birth a bit too early, you can visit the March of Dimes website to create a virtual band in honor or in memory of a child you love. You can also check local establishments throughout the month of November for opportunities to volunteer and donate to the March of Dimes. You’ll be banding together with others to help give all babies a healthy start.
