Halloween Week: Organic Candy

Whether you’re 6 or 66, candy is always the best part of Halloween. Unfortunately, most conventional brands are filled with chemical colors, artificial flavors, GMOs, and corn syrup. And if the ingredients aren’t grown organically, that means yucky pesticides, too. So this year, give out healthy, organic candy and sweets that are worlds better for kids (and adults) and still taste great. And do the kid in us a favor by skipping handing out fruit … no one likes it.

When High Fructose Corn Syrup is ingested, it travels straight to the liver which turns the sugary liquid into fat, and unlike other carbohydrates HFCS does not cause the pancreas to produce insulin; which acts as a hunger quenching signal to the brain. So we get stuck in a vicious cycle, eating food that gets immediately stored as fat and never feeling full.
