Pillow Talk: DIY Cushion

Looking for a way to add some new décor on the cheap? Search your pad for old tea towels, beach towels, blankets, shirts, and more with stylish patterns to make your own very unique pillow for your abode. After choosing the material for the project, sew three out of the four sides (with the material inside out). Turn the material inside out once more and stuff with the softest material you can find – like an old down blanket or you can buy batting from the craft store. Sew up the final side and your pillow is ready for cuddling. Feeling uber-creative? Add cutouts, buttons, or appliqués for a more special look.

You throw away 67.9 pounds of used clothing and rags each year, if you're like the typical American. Collectively, Americans discard two quadrillion pounds (that's a two with fifteen zeroes) of used clothing and textiles into the landfills each year. By using old clothing, towels, and blankets you’ll avoid tossing more into landfills.
