Cashews have magnesium and copper in them which is beneficial for bone growth and flexibility in bones, joints, and blood vessels.

On the Road: Must-Have Travel Munchies

Wanna hit the road without a Kerouac in the world? Before backing out the driveway, make sure you bring along some yummy munchies to enjoy.  Some of the Greenista Girls’ favorite nutritious snacks are dried fruit mixes and granola bars with chocolate. Try making your own to control the sugar content. Greenista Girl Shubhra makes her own honey-roasted cashews and downs them like candy. She also recommends pistachios – they are a delicious time-killer, especially with all of the de-shelling. Be sure to beat the heat and stay hydrated with a stainless steel bottle filled up with ice and water. If you have space in the trunk or if someone doesn’t mind keeping a small cooler by their feet, fill it up with lots of ice and water for refills – you’ll need it just as much as that ‘80s road trip mix.

Nuts can be high in fat so reach for those lower in saturated fat like almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachios, and walnuts as these nuts contain less than 4g of saturated fats per 50g.
